- Introduce the new person to everyone where they will be working. Make sure they know where the bathrooms are, the vending machines, the smoking area, etc., etc. Then explain, in general terms, just what it is that your department does, who does it, and why they do it. Don't forget your vision/mission statement and your core values (if any). Then hand them off to their supervisor, who will likely tell them the way things REALLY work and what their duties will now be.
- I would on the first day let the new staff try to figure out his way around. This is to see is innovative and the ability to cope skills. Second day, I will call him for a seminar that will involve brief him of the company mission and vision. Then let him ask the questions. If he was keen on the first day, am sure he will have plenty of questions to ask of what is required of him. it is easier to know a situation onces you experience it as opposed to not knowing it
- A job description would have been written before you advertised the job, so take them through it in more detail and provide opportunities for them to share their ideas for how they would implement the duties at an operational level. Introduce the officer to the other staff in the office and explain their relationship - how they will be working together. Provide a full set of the organisation's policies and procedures and make a time to meet again where they can ask questions.
