You have just hired a new staff in your deparment. As an Administrative Manager How do you give an orientation to him/her. Give and explain steps that you would include in the orientation.

  1. You should explain clearly what the Orientation Booklet covers: Sexual Harrasment policy, Worker's compensation papers (in case they get injured) etc... make them sign any liabilities if there are any. Drug test should've been passed. Orientation is anything from things they are supposed to do duh!! Justl like where everything is, and where to go for help or in case of emergencies (give them a copy of the policies they signed and contact info on all of the employees in their orientation booklet.) That's how professionals do it. In my current job they didn't do that. That's what went wrong, but in my first job they did. They were more professional. Above all, your job is also to make them not feel overwhelm and encourage them and wish them a happy time working at the company. Be positive they can learn quickly and efficiently and give them the benefit of Any doubts. As a matter of fact, don't have any doughts! That's why you hired them! Be understanding if they are rough the first time around because learning something new takes some time, but make sure it's not too long, just a reasonable amount. Do not hound them (that's one bad thing I've experienced) or boss them around so much (people bossed me around so much even if they weren't my boss!). Let them get used to things and get a feel for it! There was this one co-worker of mine that just got into my very personal space when training me and I did not appreciate it at all! He was always in my face and was so over crowding my space!
  2. By being fair but telling them exackley what you expect
  3. uhh well seeing how i'm not an administrative manager i'll tell you what my job did for my orientation. first part was what they called a gm-3rd interview this was where i got to meet the gm we disscussed things like the operating procedured for work, what is expected, dress code, code of conduct, ect. second part was my department manager meeting disscussed thing like personal history (work related) what i could bring to the company, went over the department sop (standard operating procedures), department goals, introduction to the department staff, and i was asked if i had any questions. i liked my orientation because it wasn't like an assembly line. I didn't walk in and was handed a wadd of papers and asked to watch some movie. But rather i was treated like i was an inspecting District manager or something. point is, mine was simple and straight to the point: got to know the company SOP, core values, what was expected of me, then they wanted to know some stuff about me, and if i had any concerns or questions. and thats how my orientation went
